Paraskavedekatriaphobia

The day has arrived & my friends couldn't stop themselves indulging in some pep talk leading to altercations. The following link gives more account as to why this day is not considered all that well http://www.factmonster.com/spot/friday13th.html

Superstitious ...yes people are ...Its been always intriguing for me to understand what makespeople believe in numbers more than themselves. One should only be paranoid to be lured into numbers or whenin state of vulnerability.Chinese unlike people in west consider 4 as unlucky & dotheir best not to use it in auspicious occasions.

I wonder which number Indians believe unfortune.I am sure people chose to follow this as per their convenience.Would people not board a bus which is unlucky by virtue of number ?Do we avoid the seats in movie halls ? Naaah...Well....Numbers continue to bemuse people ...I like them when it comes to my pay & it rather be hefty

Pramod Turns Biographer

I ve decided to blog again..thx to Lucy

Shall I still be called a biographer if I Dont account for details that are academicin nature i.e DOB,education, college .....whatever...I ve thought a way to pen details abt a person , this exercise might make you think in a way you might never have about that human

1) Search for the name in your favorite search engine / online Thesaurus:I ve did the same for this lady in wordweb...Do you know the response returned :Incomplete skeleton of female found in eastern Ethiopia in 1974 I have jumped out of my seat wondering what happened to rest of the body frame.

2) Create an acronym where the words are used to form traits of the person (One should be honest...shouldn't fill in for the heck of it ) Well rules are tough to adhere to ...& not being loyal to spirit..I am trying

Laid Back, Unalike,Clever,Ybit
One must have figured out the name by now ..yeah thats right you got it

3) If felt that more space is needed for adjectives ,use the column below:
To begin with Lucy is no ordinary lady my first encounter was quite riveting as it was supposed to be ...I have never met her again :)
You might want to do your homework b4 speaking to her, highly opinionated ( not necessarily judgemental),has reasons for every thing she does ,well informed, dog person ( not sure ), quick witted ,wordy & a corrector. Her personalia is too hard to be locked in any of the available genres of people....
May god bless Lucy!!!
I dont have any time left ...need to put up a shift update :)

Another weekend ..But with difference

Another Weekend & I sat down to pen down a blog
Weekends are fast becoming pastime for me to blog. But this time with a change.Pramod goes India trotting..............
It was 1700 hrs on Friday & I came rushing out of Office to reach train terminal, without many hiccups & hassels I was there. The Brown reptile without any scales was right on its way to its destination. The Brobdingnagian serpent was waiting to suck me, Its tail was long enough to provide me a morning jog if I were to run across it.But this is a good snake ---nulla pambu ( the only tamil word which I have learnt thru a story when I was in class VII).Snake was Train of Indian Railways which would ferry me to Bangalore.Soon my friend Maxi also made it to station & our journey began.
Habitually a disliker of journey , soon started loving it because of the cold breeze sweeping across & overcast conditions cheering my mind up.Maxi was my former colleague who works with Microsoft now.We had a long chat about Microsoft technologies , managers & salaries.Strike of 10PM raised alarms & co passengers were on " turn off lights " spree & we were forced to sleep on berths not very comfortable but well maintained. I could just lay on berth which restricted my movements to minimum.Clock ticked on & we were in Bangalaore by 0700hrs.
Maxi has been to Bangalore many times & this was my first visit.I was happy following him. We were at a PCO to call our host Amit ( Another Former colleague of mine working for Microsoft now ).We have taken down the address. I had first taste of Bangalores expenses by paying Rs 8 for two local calls.Worst times were just ahead.
Soon we were at Chowdhury's residence & couple were hospitable & very receptive which they do best. After a small nap & opulent food we headed to Domulur & were at Amits office in 15 minutes. His workplace rocks Needless to say MS pays a lot of attention to their infra. There was this Golf course right beside the office where the fat burly rich & affluent people hit the ball to holes.Soon we were back at home & headed to Garuda a uptown shopping mall to do lil window shopping.I hate to recollect the small altercation with auto rickshaw driver over the pay.It was tiring experience of checking all the items on sale & display aimlessly having no intentions what so ever to buy. This reminds me of my fav statement " Happy as long as its free ".It was at this shop where I had a peek at Chetan Bhagats books One night@ call center & five point someone. Books with no real sense but fun.
Here we enter the INNOX movie theatre to watch Mi III.I already had pack of Zea mays everta with desi touch & couple of samosa costing 30 bucks. That was expensive.Movie was good. I thought this was best version of Mi.Very thought of dreaded reality of going back home in an auto boiled brains. I can think of my nerves being cooked as noodles when autowallahs charged rs 100 for journey back home. To travel the same distance we were charged Rs 30 four hours ago. The distance between two points is not the same always.
We had Leechi for supper , Bengali version of Puri prepared by Mrs.Chowdhury. India's good batting display on day one second test Vs Windies was another high point of day.Over supper we exchanged strong reasons of dislike towards the city
Day two .....rest rest & rest. marathalli was the agenda & nothing else. This place hosts a lot of shopping outlets. we wrapped up our shopping in three hours & were back at home.by 9 PM We were at Bus station & soon boarded Volvo & we had a feel of Karnataka again when we were forced to watch Kannada movie. It was a matter of time before I slept again only to find lovely Hyderabad welcoming me with it arms wide open in the morning.

Lucky..Lucky ..Me..

All living & dead..(regardless of their place in life cycle ...plants , trees , humnans , animals ) who are with GMT + 0530 are here on saturday , referred as Sabbath for Jews & few Christians. The most awaited day in the week for me...
By and large , fast moving big unit during weekdays ( thats me ) shift gears & pace down all my efforts to start a lazy weekend. I couldn't ask for better way to commence it by hosting a supper for my colleagues who gleefully accepted the invitation. After a sumptous meal devoid of wine , Mouth-watering Icecreams @ Bask&Rob brought abt climax to the long week.
Before going to sleep , I had no clue what a saturday morning had in store for more...I will give you a detailed account of turning heavy pocketed from empty...
The strike of 8" brought about the urge to wake up , but the my body laid allover the bed defying any such attempt. The sight of newspaper at the corner of bed , brought a feel in me & started pulling bed sheet to reach out for paper. ( perfect sight of Laziness associated to saturday )
Sooner in the day ,left home to fetch money from ATM.While standing in queue , nonchalant look towards the road connecting ATM to highway proved more than just disinterested look.Gleam of an object whose nature that I am unaware of ..caught my glance . Something unusual -- perhaps worthy of collecting..I started moving closer to it , the glittering indeed was more as I was close to it...With everyone glaring at me , I couldn't get smirk off my lips as the identity of the object revealed.I bent down with feeling of intense dislike to pick it up ..Wiping the dust Off it I pushed it down my pockets discreetly.
Indeed I was richer by 5 rupees at end of day but my fingers are all crossed at the prospect of Luck which this beautiful mint is going to bring with it.
Watch out for more.............

X & Y of me

Do I call it love for long & straight hair which is making me go against comforts of short hair
cut ? Do I call it the dreaded fright of getting tanned that forces me surrounded by 4 walls or ?
Do I call it my conscience to appear attractive which makes me pay visits to parlor ? Do I
call it pursuit of love towards to Cardio workout that makes me run miles away from weight &
strength training. Do I call it hatred towards dreaded russian water which was my best companion
over weekends few weeks back or is it an effort to kick the hellion out of me. Is it lack of
strength or feel of vulenarability..
Donno if there has been any permutation in pairing of X & Y chromosomes in me , But loving every
moment of change...End of days for Callow teens....Days for transmutation IN....
( Ain't a sequel to Mafatlal )

Reservations ---- Utile ..futile ??

in wake of GOI plans to reserve almost 50% of seats in colleges and universities for lower-caste and other disadvantaged Indians, I have seen a splurge of blogs involving this topic...for a while SEX & SRK have taken backseat from the mind of youth.I am little confounded figurng the real facts myself.
Story , facts ...on......
India's caste system is perhaps the longest , complex & unique. we are all aware of the existance of 4 + 1 ( untoucables ) castes & their sub systems..
Story :========Vedics outline Brahmanas to be deviod of any adulterations & the purest form of humanity. Vedas alos inform that there was only one community ( brahmans ) to start with , however with a greedy brians & forged minds have moved people to move into different groups.Time never healed the problem of inequailities & the centuries to follow only worsened the matter. The idea of govt ..I suppose was to decrease any further discrimintaions & bring all communities together & make it brahman community ...( my idea being ..A full cycle of sigle community is achieved )
Facts:===========in July 1998 in the state of Uttar Pradesh, an Allahabad High Court judge had his chambers “purified with Ganga jal” (water from the River Ganges), because it had earlier been occupied by a Dalit judge
Villapuram district, Tamil Nadu, all 120 villages have segregated Dalit colonies. Basic supplies such as water are also segregated. Dalits have responded to ill-treatment by converting, en masse, to Buddhism, Christianity, and sometimes Islam. Once converted, however, many lose access to their scheduled-caste status and the few government privileges assigned to it.
Whenever Dalits have tried to organise themselves or assert their rights, there has been a backlash from the feudal lords resulting in mass killings of Dalits, gang rapes, looting and arsoning, etc. of Harijan [Dalit] basties [villages].
Poor tillers from lower castes refuse to accept the lands given to them under agrarian reforms due to fear of life. These are recorded in Gujarat & TN.
Social boycotts are common sight in Karnataka til date . it imposes a rule to unprivileged people not to use water from common wells, visiting temples, working in fields etc..village council levies fines against caste Hindus who refuse to participate in it.
sexual attacks on dalit women is not a rarity. You may want to spend time to get atleast one such article everyday on your newspaper.
Stats:=========
Of total population of India :
SC consists 15%,ST:7.5% & OBC:50%. SC & ST have their share of reservation in Jobs & Unviversities allocated. Whereas OBC have ONLY 27% reserved
Reservation & Why ??====================I myself would have studied in a better engg college than I did , if Quota system was not in place. But I feel no cheated. There was iota of sadness & disappointment associated & nothing else.Government always work to cater needs of larger population.
Who would have thought that Indian women come out in huge numbers to work in 21st century. Thanks to Quotas.I was completely against sops to women , Still I am . Now that the accomplishments of girls at school are better than boys & women working in equal numbers as men Govt shud think of decreasing quotas gradually. ( every policy shud be time bound )
EMPOWERMENT OF A SECTION SHOULD NOT WEAKEN OTHERS.
The recent reservations which engaged the interest of medicos across India & the subsequent curiosity that excited among others is in a way VAILD.Though I am trying to hold the ground for quota sympathisers I am perplexed to understand as to how many years quota will be in place.
1) If Govt. feels that increasing seats in universities wud bring upon welfare of weaker sections ...Are they ignorant that most of the weaker people are unable to finish the schooling ?? people from BIMARU states ( Bihar , MP , Rajasthan & UP ) are not utilising their qoutas.
2) One strong voice heard in recent dust kicking episode was : Economy / Income driven Quotas & not case based...There was this article which I have read recently revealed that 146 MP's do not own cars....Can you believe that ..few of those poor politicians are Naveen Jindal , Renuka Chowdhury ..Rahul Gandhi.....So isn't it hard to believe I am in agreement that only affluent people of so called weak groups make use of them.
3) Quotas have been in place for 60 years & have been a failure as 95% of all executive jobs are filled by OC or FC.The only sign of encourangement would be there is some progress , but a snails pace which ..if is not propelled by govt is soon going to bring upon a cultural divide in the nation.
Govt doen't have the exact population details of OBC yet , they have not zeroed on Time boundedness & are not sure if family income can be considered as Qouta.
All in all as long as Venal ,corruptible , dishonest & uncommitted government holds the Raj of India these episodes are here to stay ...
