Reservations ---- Utile ..futile ??

in wake of GOI plans to reserve almost 50% of seats in colleges and universities for lower-caste and other disadvantaged Indians, I have seen a splurge of blogs involving this topic...for a while SEX & SRK have taken backseat from the mind of youth.I am little confounded figurng the real facts myself.
Story , facts ...on......
India's caste system is perhaps the longest , complex & unique. we are all aware of the existance of 4 + 1 ( untoucables ) castes & their sub systems..
Story :========Vedics outline Brahmanas to be deviod of any adulterations & the purest form of humanity. Vedas alos inform that there was only one community ( brahmans ) to start with , however with a greedy brians & forged minds have moved people to move into different groups.Time never healed the problem of inequailities & the centuries to follow only worsened the matter. The idea of govt ..I suppose was to decrease any further discrimintaions & bring all communities together & make it brahman community ...( my idea being ..A full cycle of sigle community is achieved )
Facts:===========in July 1998 in the state of Uttar Pradesh, an Allahabad High Court judge had his chambers “purified with Ganga jal” (water from the River Ganges), because it had earlier been occupied by a Dalit judge
Villapuram district, Tamil Nadu, all 120 villages have segregated Dalit colonies. Basic supplies such as water are also segregated. Dalits have responded to ill-treatment by converting, en masse, to Buddhism, Christianity, and sometimes Islam. Once converted, however, many lose access to their scheduled-caste status and the few government privileges assigned to it.
Whenever Dalits have tried to organise themselves or assert their rights, there has been a backlash from the feudal lords resulting in mass killings of Dalits, gang rapes, looting and arsoning, etc. of Harijan [Dalit] basties [villages].
Poor tillers from lower castes refuse to accept the lands given to them under agrarian reforms due to fear of life. These are recorded in Gujarat & TN.
Social boycotts are common sight in Karnataka til date . it imposes a rule to unprivileged people not to use water from common wells, visiting temples, working in fields etc..village council levies fines against caste Hindus who refuse to participate in it.
sexual attacks on dalit women is not a rarity. You may want to spend time to get atleast one such article everyday on your newspaper.
Stats:=========
Of total population of India :
SC consists 15%,ST:7.5% & OBC:50%. SC & ST have their share of reservation in Jobs & Unviversities allocated. Whereas OBC have ONLY 27% reserved
Reservation & Why ??====================I myself would have studied in a better engg college than I did , if Quota system was not in place. But I feel no cheated. There was iota of sadness & disappointment associated & nothing else.Government always work to cater needs of larger population.
Who would have thought that Indian women come out in huge numbers to work in 21st century. Thanks to Quotas.I was completely against sops to women , Still I am . Now that the accomplishments of girls at school are better than boys & women working in equal numbers as men Govt shud think of decreasing quotas gradually. ( every policy shud be time bound )
EMPOWERMENT OF A SECTION SHOULD NOT WEAKEN OTHERS.
The recent reservations which engaged the interest of medicos across India & the subsequent curiosity that excited among others is in a way VAILD.Though I am trying to hold the ground for quota sympathisers I am perplexed to understand as to how many years quota will be in place.
1) If Govt. feels that increasing seats in universities wud bring upon welfare of weaker sections ...Are they ignorant that most of the weaker people are unable to finish the schooling ?? people from BIMARU states ( Bihar , MP , Rajasthan & UP ) are not utilising their qoutas.
2) One strong voice heard in recent dust kicking episode was : Economy / Income driven Quotas & not case based...There was this article which I have read recently revealed that 146 MP's do not own cars....Can you believe that ..few of those poor politicians are Naveen Jindal , Renuka Chowdhury ..Rahul Gandhi.....So isn't it hard to believe I am in agreement that only affluent people of so called weak groups make use of them.
3) Quotas have been in place for 60 years & have been a failure as 95% of all executive jobs are filled by OC or FC.The only sign of encourangement would be there is some progress , but a snails pace which ..if is not propelled by govt is soon going to bring upon a cultural divide in the nation.
Govt doen't have the exact population details of OBC yet , they have not zeroed on Time boundedness & are not sure if family income can be considered as Qouta.
All in all as long as Venal ,corruptible , dishonest & uncommitted government holds the Raj of India these episodes are here to stay ...
